Baseball in the Dominican Republic is more than a sport, it is central to the identity of the nation. Dominicans take great pride in the fact that their native sons have worked their way from poor beginnings to make it all the way to the heights of Major League Baseball.

Traveling to the DR is a life changing experience and a very unique learning opportunity. Students will come to understand the forces for development and also feel the tensions and inequities that are brought on by poverty. Tremont Sports offers your group engagements and interactions with baseball players, MLB academy directors, independent local trainers, government officials and more. Further, your group can participate in meaningful service learning projects with players and teams.

THE BASEBALL DEVELOPMENT SYSTEM

Perhaps the Dominican Republic's most recognized export is baseball players and, consequently, Major League Baseball and all 30 member teams operate on the island. Explore the multinational interests across all levels of baseball:

• Visits to youth leagues, trainers, camps and academies

THE ACADEMY SYSTEM

The Major League Baseball academy system plays a central role in the development of baseball across the Caribbean and Latin America and the Dominican Republic is ground zero. Participants will examine the entire baseball complex and your custom itinerary includes such highlights as:
