For more than 100 years, baseball has been central to life and culture in the Dominican Republic, it's a symbol of hope, and escape. As such, perhaps the DR's most recognized export is baseball players. Manny. Pedro. Papi. Sosa. Pujols... the names are well known; the DR has produced more Major League players per capita than any other country.

Ranked #8 in the world rankings, the women's national team, locally known as the 'Queens of the Caribbean,' competes against the global elite, quite a feat for a nation of fewer than 15 million people.
